AP Rubrics for open-ended tasks

The Fairfax County (FC) rubrics are far more detailed than the Advanced Placement (AP) rubrics, so we will be using them throughout the year in order to provide as much information as possible on how each student can improve his or her skills. The FC categories can be viewed as more specific sub-categories of the AP grading areas as shown:

AP Rubric Term: Task Completion

FC Rubric Term: Task Completion
AP Rubric Term: Delivery

FC Rubric Terms: Comprehensibility, Level of Discourse, Fluency
AP Rubric Term: Language Use

FC Rubric Terms: Vocabulary, Language Control

A student can earn up to six points in each category based on the AP rubrics, but only up to four points for some categories based on the FC rubrics. Because of this difference, scores will be recorded in ProgressBook showing the FC score as the one that determines a grade on that assignment. The AP score will be indicated in the comments area in order to provide the student with feedback on his or her progress towards AP Exam readiness.

*International Baccalaureate (IB) designated courses utilize rubrics specific to the IB Programme.
